During a global pandemic, it is hard to find entertainment. Fortunately, there are some things to do in Cedar Rapids this spring. 

On Saturday, April 10 at 7:30 p.m., there will be a magic show featuring Bill Blagg. Blagg is one of the top touring illusionists in the nation. 

“I was always in love with becoming a grand scale illusionist and wanting to tour the world and perform public shows,” Blagg said in one of his YouTube videos. 

The show will be located at the Paramount Theatre and  will feature interactive magic.

“[It] took me over two years to create this show. I wanted this to be a true experience from start to finish,” Blagg said.

For those who do not enjoy magic, two-time Grammy nominee Kari Jobe will be performing a worship music concert. It is a part of her tour called, “The Blessing.” This will also take place at the Paramount Theatre, but will be on Friday, May 21 at 7:30 p.m. She has won multiple Dove Awards and was recognized by The New York Times. Throughout her career, she has sold more than 1.2 billion albums. 

Jobe hopes to uplift people with not only her tour, but her music too.  

“We had no idea that the timing of ‘The Blessing’ would fall at such an incredibly sensitive time for our globe. I have cried so many times as I’ve watched different people all over the world declaring this song over their families, their churches and their nations. It has been so sweet. I’m so thankful that His promises are promises of peace and strength,” Jobe said. 

At Hazzard County American Saloon on Saturday, April 24, Battle of the Bands will take place at 3:00 p.m. There will be 10 different bands competing at this event that takes place every year. 

The groups were nominated by fans. Each band will perform at a different time that day, but the first performance will be at 3:00 p.m. The winner of the bands will be chosen by a group of judges.
