Kodak Black Review

Derrick Voss, A&E Writer

After being released from jail, fans finally got the album they have been waiting a year for. On December 14, 2018, Kodak Black dropped his first album since 2017, Dying to Live. Kodak is one of the originators of the new form of rap called mumble rap. This type of music is controversial as many people think it is a bad road for hip hop because they say it lacks any skill. In spite of the people who do not like this new wave, Kodak has grown into a mainstream artist.

Kodak is coming off of his very popular album, Project Baby 2, with fans paying a lot of attention to his music. Because of all of this attention, this was a highly anticipated album for fans, especially since they had to wait for him to be released from prison.

After Kodak was released, he announced a new album coming this year and did not give too much detail on the release. About two months later, Kodak dropped his hit single ZEZE, which increased the hype for his new project. Kodak dropped the album soon after. Despite the long wait and the amount of time Kodak had to put the album together, it was nothing special. The album has a couple highlights, but other than that, it is average and does not compare to his last project. The best songs include Testimony, Identity Theft, Gnarly, ZEZE and Moshpit. The album also contains a couple of good features including Lil Pump, Travis Scott, Offset and Juice Wrld.

Overall, this album is very average and will not be remembered as anything amazing. 6/10.
