Dining with Dan: Red’s

Dining with Dan: Red’s

For this issue of Dining with Dan, I went to a restaurant downtown called Red’s. Red’s is a sports bar on the corner of 1st Avenue and 2nd Street. This restaurant has an interesting interior design; some parts look newly-renovated, and other parts look like they have been there since the building was first established. This interior design gives the atmosphere a casual, yet elegant vibe. Along with this, the atmosphere is what you would expect for a sports bar, with TVs everywhere, while the customers consist of groups of friends, families, and coworkers. Red’s offers a moderate amount of seating, with spots at tables, booths, and two different bars. They also split up the main bar area from the dining area, giving people who came in for food a more placid environment for conversations. My overall rating of the atmosphere would four out of five stars.

As for the food, they offer burgers, wraps, and sandwiches, along with a few sides, a fair variety of appetizers, and breakfast food until 2 p.m. When my family and I visited, we ordered an appetizer of fries covered in cheese and bits of pork. They were flavorful, but not the best appetizer I have ever had. For my main dish, I ordered a buffalo chicken wrap that I found delectable. I enjoyed my meal, and if I were to return, I would gladly order it again. The service would be considered average with what you might expect from a bar. The servers were kind and got our orders correct, but it seemed as though they could have been more social, making the experience more inviting and comfortable. Overall, I would give food and service three and half stars out of five.

My overall rating for Red’s would be four out of five stars. I would recommend giving Red’s a try, especially on a weekday because it is a downtown bar and may be less busy.
