Girls’ basketball adopts a family

The Xavier girls’ basketball team adopted a local family in need to help them during the holiday season. For this team, service is not a task, but rather an opportunity to spread the love and care that comes with being a Xavier Saint.

“It feels awesome to be able to help a local family during the holiday season,” senior Addy Hoffman said. “It has made me realize all of the things I take for granted and how I should help those less fortunate.”

The Saints adopted a family of three, a mother and her two children; an eleven-year-old girl and a six-year-old boy. The team will be helping them by providing clothing, food, bedding, and other essential items. The Saints also plan to spread the Christmas spirit by giving them toys and furniture. This service project has not only benefited the family, but also the team.

“Helping this family has allowed the team to become a lot closer,” Hoffman said. “It has made us all grateful for our families and for one another.”

Hoffman is not the only player who believes this service has strengthened the team.

“It was rewarding to see the smiles on their faces as we brought them the items they needed,” senior Kylie Brown said. “The service really helped us to bond as a team. We are looking forward to seeing them again and giving them their Christmas presents.”

The girls are thankful for the opportunity to give back to the community during the Christmas season.
