Giving thanks

Jack Delaney

Throughout my time at Xavier, I have gained so much knowledge not just in academics but also in faith, leadership, dedication and perseverance. High school is no walk in the park, but I made it through with the help of my family, friends and teachers. It is impossible to list everyone who’s had an impact on my life, but I want to name a few.

Thank you to my choir directors I have had the privilege to work with. Mr. Schroetter, Mr. Walker, Ms. De Jong and Ms. Diebold, thank you for always reminding me why I joined choir and show choir and taking a chance on a short, scrawny kid trying out for Xuberance freshman year. I will always remember the Xavier Vocal Music Department as my home away from home.

Thank you Mrs. Augustine for helping me find my love for writing. I would not be ready to major in journalism and mass communications if it wasn’t for your feedback on articles and always helping me improve on my writing skills. You are always someone I can count on to cheer me up and I will miss our talks in the JLab.

Thank you to Mrs. Zeckser, Mrs. Richmond, Mrs. Esker, Ms. Boenker, Ms. Samek and Mrs. Marshall for always being people I can count on for advice at school and for always brightening my day with your positive attitudes. I am so grateful for all you guys have done for me and helping me through hard times.

I also want to thank my family for their endless support. I can always count on all my sisters to tune into dance competition live streams and to give me advice as I walked through high school. My parents have been my biggest supporters. I would not have been able to participate in things like dance and show choir if it was not for their sacrifice of time and money. I’m so grateful that they gave me the experiences I have had.

Thank you to everyone I have met along the way for helping me grow into the person I am today through every interaction. I can’t wait for my future as an Iowa Hawkeye!
