Xavier’s Dance Team wrapped up their season by celebrating their win at the state championship via livestream on Saturday, December 5, 2020. The 14 dancers and their coach were very excited to find out about their win and the three soloists, junior Sara Gundacker, sophomore Alyssa Ramler and freshman Reegan Flugge, who placed as well. Gundacker placed 2nd, Ramler placed 7th and Flugge placed 1st.

“I was super excited to place at state. I loved to see Xavier represented three times in the top ten,” Gundacker said. “Placing second is a huge accomplishment for me. Since we competed virtually this year without the pressure of everyone in the crowd watching me, it was actually harder to perform.”

Gundacker plans on continuing competition dance at Extensions Dance  Academy the rest of the school year. Both Ramler and Flugge plan on continuing dance at Prestige Dance Studio.

The girls had so much fun during the season and made so many memories.

“My favorite part about this season was having so many new people on the team and getting to know them. Also, when we won state, I did not expect it to happen, but it was really cool,” Flugge said.

Due to the coronavirus, the state championship was virtual. With that being said, the dance team submitted one dance and placed first in the 3A division.

“My favorite part about this year’s season was being able to compete at state with my team,” Ramler said.

With all the new changes in 2020, it was exciting for the girls to be able to go and win state, especially with this being the pinnacle of the season with no nationals due to COVID-19. In history, the Xavier Dance Team has 14 first place finishes since 2000.
