See ya, Starbucks

Rachel Schneider

I’ve always liked coffee. No, I’ve never been the biggest fan because my go-to drink besides water is Dr. Pepper, but I still enjoy it every once in a while. That being said, over the years, I’ve changed my perspective on coffee and which mainstream coffee company I most enjoy.

It all started one day when I was talking to my friend, Amber, before school last year. I’ve always seen her around with Dunkin’ Donuts coffee in the morning. I had some time on my hands, so I asked her what she was drinking. She told me it was an iced French vanilla latte from Dunkin’ and that I should try it. At that point, I had never been to Dunkin’ to get coffee before, and I was genuinely really curious so I took it upon myself to try it out. Here’s my conclusion: Dunkin’ is way better than Starbucks.

First of all, Dunkin’ is way more affordable. If you’re looking for some coffee that not only tastes so delicious but is also only like three bucks for a medium, Dunkin’ is the best choice. Starbucks just costs way too much, and for me to be paying ten bucks for a “venti” just to have it be mediocre is a waste of money. The only time I go to Starbucks now is if they have their seasonal drinks and I have gift cards saved up.

Dunkin’ also has a way better selection for foods. I’m a big sucker for all their  different donuts like strawberry frosted or chocolate frosted with sprinkles. Starbucks’ menu for food on the other hand, is pretty bland and nothing really stands out to me.

Don’t get me wrong, I can understand liking Starbucks too. There’s a reason the drive through lines are always so long. Starbucks is more known for their coffee and they have some decent drinks too but Dunkin’ just gives you an easier, cheaper and tastier alternative to the overhyped coffee chain.

I highly recommend trying out Dunkin’ if you haven’t. It’s time we realized that Starbucks isn’t the only place to get some good, silky smooth tasting coffee. It might just change your spending habits too!
