Thank you, seniors

Saying goodbye to high school can be hard for some spring sport athletes right now.

With spring sports officially being canceled, many seniors had to say goodbye to their sport without the chance to represent Xavier one last time. Xavier High School’s Activities Director, Adam McDonnell, wanted to do something about this, so he decided to make a video honoring the seniors for all they have done.

“It is important to me that we recognize our seniors for their commitment to each program over their time at Xavier,” McDonnell said. “In the video, the seniors are talking about their experience/best memory of their sport, explaining their post Xavier plans and sharing words of wisdom for the underclassman and future Saints.”

McDonnell cannot express his condolences enough to those seniors that missed their season, although it was the right decision to cancel the season, it was tough.

“I feel terrible for the athletes,” McDonnell said. “There is no closure for those seniors.”

The senior spring athletes are looking back on their high school careers, and trying to find closure by appreciating the memories they made.

“I will cherish all of the memories and lessons I have learned along the way. The Xavier golf team will always hold a special place in my heart and I am really grateful that I got to be a part of it,” senior golfer Ellie Braksiek said.

These athletes will miss a lot from high school sports.

“I will miss the feel of running an official race, the people and the sense of comradery the most,” senior track athlete Jack Renning said.

With a lot going on right now, these Xavier seniors understand there are bigger problems in the world, but wish they could have a chance to complete one last time.
