Alum as director

A former Saint returns to Xavier.

Xavier graduate Meredith Diebold (X14) is Xuberance’s new show choir director.

During high school, Diebold participated in show choir all four years.

“My favorite part was the thrill of being on stage,” Diebold said. “The adrenaline you feel from performing a show with a team that has worked so hard all year is so rewarding.”

After graduating, Diebold missed the Xavier community, but this year she was offered the opportunity to return.

“I spent the past year without music in my life,” Diebold said. “I missed it dearly and decided to search for something new. Then, I got an email from the choir director, Mr. Matt Walker! I believe everything happens for a reason and I am so happy to be working with Xub.”

As a director, Diebold knows there is always some way the show choir can learn and grow in each rehearsal.

“I am a bit of a perfectionist but I am also a very hard worker,” Diebold said. “I see a problem and I make a plan of how to fix it. This is how I see directing—I know where we are, where we need to be and how to get there.”

Sophomore Xuberance member Abigail Globokar values having a Xavier graduate as a director.

“It is nice to have somebody who has gone through the Xavier Choir Department and was a member of Xavier show choir herself,” Globokar said. “She brings a hard-working and fun energy to the choir.”

Xuberance will be performing the songs: “All The Things I’ve Done,” “Glitter & Gold,” “Ashes” and “Dance Like Nobody’s Watching” this year.
