Every year Xavier honors individuals who have had an impact in the community. Xavier hosted the induction into the Alumni Hall of Fame during halftime of the varsity boys’ basketball game on Friday, February 8, which was also a girls’ and boys’ doubleheader. A reception honoring the inductees was hosted by the LaSalle, Regis and Xavier Alumni Association and preceded the basketball games.

“Xavier is built on the shoulders of those who came before us,” Director of Development, Mrs. Mary Harken said. “Being able to honor those people who contributed is very important for our current students and current families to see how these people have impacted the world.”

This year there were four people who had the honor of being inducted. Tony Milcoff (LS94), for his outstanding athletic career in wrestling, Maggie O’Connell (X05), for her outstanding athletic career in basketball, Jody Pellerin, for her outstanding service as Executive Director of the Xavier Foundation for 13 years, and Karen Schulte (R75), for being an outstanding supporter as an executive board member when Xavier was founded and being a longtime advocate for Xavier. These are people who were a LaSalle, Regis or Xavier alumni or someone who has done outstanding service within the Xavier community.

“I never dreamed I would be part of the Hall of Fame,” Pellerin said. “I worked with the Alumni Association for many years in my role as Foundation Executive Director to select and induct many members of the Hall of Fame, and I never thought I would one day be included.”

This tradition started when LaSalle and Regis High Schools opened and it carried over when Xavier opened in 1998. Parents, friends, family members, teachers and even coaches have nominated the Hall of Fame recipients in the past. Alumni can get inducted for superior achievement while they were in high school, for volunteer and support work within the community or for outstanding accomplishments in their occupation after their academic career. After getting nominated, there is a committee made up of alumni, the Foundation and Mr. Tom Keating who go through nominations and pick the deserving candidates each year.

“Mr. Keating has reiterated to his graduating seniors that when we look at these Hall of Fame nominees, to ‘Go out in the world and be exceptional,’” President of the Alumni Association, Mr. Ryan Charkowski said. “That epitomizes what we are honoring with the Xavier Hall of Fame.”

Over 200 people have been inducted, inspiring others to leave an unforgettable mark on the Xavier community.
